The 4-day second AZA festival of short-films was just completed at the Olympion Cinema, with sincere thanks to the Thessaloniki Intern.Film Festival, with indeed a great sucess!
And not only because over 2,000 people attended it, but much more important with their congratulations and very positive comments about how enchanted they were with the quality of the films shown.
From 6:30pm to well after midnight the cinema hall was packed with cinephiles of all ages, and many were even attending standing. Almost all the films received long applauses AND the plea to play them again for them and their friends to also see was heard all the time.
All the cinephiles attending were strongly recommending that the festival become a 7-day event next year, which would also permit time for a repeat of some films.
Our only problem was time, as we really had enough pre-selected films to even have a second festival. And inspite of the very late printing of posters, flyers and the program, inspite of not using concerts and celebrity names to attract people, we had a "full house" every day of the festival.
We promised "little masterpieces" and we delivered just that. And cinephiles of Thessaloniki loved it.
Soon , you will hearing from us again, and also our announcement of the 10 BEST shorts of special "Cinematic Achievement" !
Thank you ALL very sincerely for participating this year and contributing to the sucess of the festival, and especially the KIMUAK Basque Kinoteca, the Romanian Film Center, the Prague Film School, the Lodj Film School for the student shorts of Polanski and Kieslowski, Ozzywood in Australia, Britfilms, Coffee Films, Hollyshorts in California, Psarokokalo Festival of Athens, Patra International Panorama of Independent Film, CologneOFF in Germany, Split Kino Klub, Akademski Film Centar in Belgrade and more.
We would also like to thank the DIMITRIA Arts Festival, and especially the Vice-Mayor Mr. V. Gakis for including us in DIMITRIA, a great honor indeed.
Also, the A' Diamerisma of the Municipality and its President Mr. A. Veizades for their most important sponsorship
